Meditating on the many historical layers of London, Paola Minekov created an abstract, but romantic view of this busy metropolis.
"For me, London has the appeal of a powerful ancient city, which is still making the transition to the ultra modern, where cosy little alleys rub shoulders with skyscrapers and quirky colourful fashion overpowers dress suites while the mist above the Thames serves as a reminder of centuries rich of history," says the artist.
The associative composition is, therefore, a fusion of the present and the past, embodied in the titular gaslight and the Houses of Parliament in the distance. Being the artist's place of residence, London continues to inspire her with its many landmarks, secrets, and corners.
